There is a great website that puts together all Peace Corps Volunteer's blogs from a while ago as well as people who are there currently or who are going soon. It is a fun place to waste time and surf (spying on where I might be going! Togo has two married couples going there in September!! Dennis watch out!)

Mailing Tips
-I need to carry anything about 2km by foot, then about 55km bycar, so please don't send anything awkwardly big or heavy.
-Write "religious materials" or bible verses on packages
-Make sure to write "air mail" so it isn't sent by boat...
-Include a contents list (and keep photocopies/scans of letters) so I know if I got everything or if it is lost in the mail you didn't waste all that time on a letter that is never to be seen again
-Never claim value of things sent...it will just make them more likely to be stolen
-The magic limit is 4 pounds
-Please Please Please bag or tape or protect anything that might be messy or might be ruined by getting wet (hey...it's the African mail system, it might sit in a puddle)

Things To Send Me (if you are feeling so generous!)
- Candy (chocolate, heath, butterfinger, caramel, sour patch kids, gummy bears)
- candles, insense, anything that smells pretty. I especially like vanilla
- fruit leather (yum!) you can even stick one in a letter :)
- moleskin journals, pens
- Anything with keepable protein (beef jerky? soy bean bars?)
- Brillos
- Anything MacGyver could use (safety pins, push pins, brads)
- Americana (short stories about America, History, folk tales)
- Nursery School ideas for lessons
- Annie's White Chedder or Kraft Mac and Cheese packets
- Ramen or "just add water" food
- Granola/Protein/Power bar type things
- COFFEE (ground)
- Magazines (People, Highlights, Oprah, Beauty stuff)
- Pictures of you and your life!
- Dried Fruit- especially small stuff for cookies and oatmeal
